San Diego Comic-Con 2014

Today is officially the fourth day of this years’ Comic-Con. Yes, I am officially four days late to the party.

What is Comic-Con about? It is basically a convention for geeks aka “THE SUPER BOWL for NERDS” [as Stephen Amell kindly said]. Every year this convention takes place in San Diego, California, and you can buy tickets to go and take part of this great community. You can cosplay as your favorite character and go to different panels and see your favorite actors and interact with them, etc.

I haven’t kept track of this years’ Comic-Con like I do every year. However, I am fangirling so much over every picture that comes up on my dashboard. I honestly cannot remember how long it has been since I have fangirled so much! I mean, all the feelings that are running through me when I see all these amazing actors from movies and tv shows that I love.

Until now, the lucky people that attended Comic-Con had the chance to see the trailers for Mockingjay, the new season of Arrow, a sneak peak at the new season of Game of Thrones and they also met the casts of Game of Thrones, The Avengers, Teen Wolf, Arrow and many more.

So now, I am going to put a whole lot of pictures from what happened at Comic-Con so far. Just so you know, they are not in a specific order and I will provide you with the links if you need/want them. Also, these pictures are not mine!!!

The Avengers Age of Ultron and the amazing Robert Downey Jr.

The cast of Game of Thrones and their killer: George R.R. Martin

Benedict Cumberbatch with a Madagascar penguin 😀

The cast of Arrow in a selfie with many fans and Stephen Amell‘s abs 😉

The Teen Wolf cast 🙂

The amazing spiderman, I mean…Daniel Radcliffe. And a second photo of him at his panel, promoting his new movie: Horns.  Hehe 🙂 [don’t know if the first one is real but it is funny]

A surprise arrival from Mr. McConaughey

The cast of Once Upon a Time and Captain Swan being adorable!!!

And here is a funny article about Comic-Con.

These are some of the stars that made an appearance at Comic-Con 2014. I promised myself that once I get a job and can be fully responsible of my actions, I will go to Comic-Con. I am not ashamed of saying that I am a fangirl and that I love movies and tv shows more than a normal person. It is one of those life goals that I plan to achieve and cross off of my list.

Hope you liked this random post, and let me know if you are excited about Comic-Con and if you want to go or have already been.

Until next time, stay geeky,

Lexi xoxoxox!

The Academy Awards 2014

As any person feeling under the weather, that has a day off of school and that day happens to be right before the Oscars, I hugged the opportunity of seeing the famous award show, LIVE from the comfort of my bedroom.

Usually, on a school night, I wouldn’t be allowed to watch any kind of awards LIVE because of the huge time difference between where I live and Hollywood, but I got my folks permission to watch them at the ridiculous our of 2AM until 6AM because I am really ill at the moment so I have the Monday off of school.
I am gradually writing this post as the show goes on. I really don’t want to miss anything that popped out to me during the show. So, I am writing this intro before the shows even started, because I want to have this post posted as soon as I can have it written.

On this beautiful Sunday, I drove my mom crazy with everything that means the Oscars. I just couldn’t shut up about how excited I was to see them LIVE and all that jazz.

A usual question that would follow is “Who do you hope will win?”. Well obviously, my favorite actor that I wish to  FINALLY get his well deserved Oscar is none other than Leo DiCaprio. Surprised? I didn’t think so. I really think that Leo is a favorite of the audience for many years, and I think that we all agree that his performance in The Wolf of Wall Street was maybe one of his best yet, but even so I feel like Matthew McConaughey is a favorite in this category.

My expectations for tonight are quite simple: Ellen to be her usual funny self and for Leo to get that damn Oscar. And yep, that’s pretty much it…

From here on I will document everything that I found interesting, beautiful, annoying and exciting during the show :D. Before I forget to mention it, I am “documenting” everything in my time table and everything I say is according to the streams I have found, so please don’t be too confused, lol! So here we go…

  • 12.05 AM:  The Red Carpet LIVE stream works but nothing interesting is to see.
  • 12.20AM: People are shouting but I am not sure why…also no one interesting appeared on the carpet yet.
  • 12.26AM: The MTV and VH1 stream finally has someone talking on the stream because it became a bit boring.
  • 12.28AM: Benedict Cumberbatch, Jennifer Lawrence and The Wolf of Wall Street are mentioned, talking about excitement…
  • 12.38AM: Have 3 live streams opened, still nothing going on
  • 12.46AM: Just saw an interview with the chef that made the food for the awards-am very hungry!
  • 01.08AM: Getting angry and tired of this…guess all the stars decided to arrive at the last minute; Viola Davis looks amazing!
  • 01.10AM: Cristin Milioti[the first wife of Leo in The Wolf of Wall Street] arrives on the RC, I love her dress!!!!
  • 01.14AM: Mads Mikkelsen arrives on the RC, surprised to see him…looks good-think he had a nice…dinner 😉
  • 01.16AM: Portia de Rossi looks amazing, great dress choice! bet she is proud of Ellen 🙂
  • 01.33AM: Kristen Bell also looks amazing, love her dress!
  • 01.39AM: Kellan Lutz arrives on the RC, he looks YUM! *.* -wearing a suit made out of recycled items
  • 01.42AM: Amy Adams- blue simple dress, very form fitting! loved it!
  • 01.44AM: Anna Kendrick, very chic dress, would have worked better without the slit IMHO.
  • 01.49AM: The bets are lost for those who said Lupita will wear purple, she chose a beautiful sky blue dress. My favorite of all up until now.
  • 01.54AM: Heard the paparazzi saying “Okay, okay, move along, we’ve seen you, go on already”, to a guy that was posing for the red carpet. More than rude…what do you expect from them?
  • 01.59AM: Joseph Gordon Levitt looks his usual great self!
  • 02.05AM: Drooling all over the screen because Jared Leto just arrived and he looks amazing!
  • 02.08AM: Harrison Ford arrived, he looks good for his age!
  • 02.11AM: Benedict Cumberbatch just won my heart…again! Loved his appearance. Hair looks *.*;as always.
  • 02.13AM: Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell just stepped on the carped…Goldie, you are a queen, but that dress…no..
  • 02.16AM: Jessica Biel looks FLAWLESS! love the dress choice!
  • 02.21AM: Michael Fassbander is a heartthrob as usual.
  • 02.22AM: Christoph Waltz, yes my friend, good fashion choice as usual.
  • 02.24AM: Matthew McConaughey arrives on the RC and looks delicious in his white tux!
  • 02.26AM: Charlize Theron, as per usual, breaks hearts with a gorgeous appearance!
  • 02.28AM: Chris Hemsworth is definitely drool worthy! As for his wife…sorry, but I’d fire that image consultant…
  • 02.29AM: Jennifer Lawrence makes her appearance, and not very late after that trips over her own feet on the red carpet. Looks okay in the Dior dress which looks similar to  Amy Adams’, but J Law definitely had better choices in the past.
  • 02.39AM: Spotted Leo DiCaprio and he looks amazing *.*.
  • 02.40AM: Anne Hathaway looks like she’s not aging, wouldn’t have chosen that dress though..
  • 02.43AM: Emma Watson looks GORGEOUS! I can’t  believe I didn’t notice how much I missed seeing her!
  • 02.45AM: All my streams crashed and I want to cry because I cannot find others.
  • 02.50AM: Seen on twitter that Lady Gaga made an appearance in a pink Versace gown…not crazy about it and not sure why she was invited…

After this fun and too long Red Carpet experience, I couldn’t  find any live stream for the actual award show, so I had to go to sleep. I will definitely watch them tomorrow night when the cut and edited version is aired on HBO.

Benedict Cumberbatch was a sweetheart and I couldn’t stop swooning when I listened to his interview. I am pretty sure that he will be a very big actor of his generation and will get his own Academy Awards statue.

A thing that I found repulsive was the way Pharell Williams attended the RC. I have been thought since I’ve been little that shorts are not an appropriate formal wear. Of course, there are many exceptions in Hollywood, but I still found his attire a bit offensive, or better said…inappropriate for such an important event.

All in all, I loved seeing all my favorite stars going down the Red Carpet and seeing interviews and so on. Though I wish The Academy Awards would have had thought about the people who do not live on the American continent and given us at least one live stream. I was pretty disappointed because I stayed up so late to watch this show and couldn’t because people are sometimes careless about situations like this.

When I woke up I was greatly disappointed to find out that Leo did not get his well deserved statuette. Even though I have to admit that Matthew McConaughey played an amazing role and deserved this award, I have to keep my previous opinion that Leo deserved it more…I guess everything is okay because the award went to another actor that I love and respect. Don’t worry Leo, maybe next time 😉 .

Hope you enjoyed my veeeeeeeeery long ramble about the Oscars, and I hope I din’t bore you…too much. Maybe I’ll do a short review of the actual award show as well. We’ll see.

Until next time, lots of hugs,

Lexi xxxxxxxx!

Movie review “Thor: The Dark World”

On this fine Sunday, I decided to go see a movie with my father and best friend. What we decided to see? Well that is easy! Thor, of course. How could we miss this great opportunity to see a Marvel movie on a fine day like today. The only drawback of this decision was that this movie fucked up with my emotions completely!!!

I will try to not give out anything of the movie plot, and only talk about it generally. Though I am still announcing that there might be spoilers, considering that I don’t know your understanding of a spoiler. So *SPOILER ALERT*:

When I arrived at the cinema I was expecting an Action-Drama movie. It’s not that it wasn’t, but for this movie you will honestly need to take some napkins with you.  I couldn’t believe that an action packed movie will ever make me cry, let alone my father. You should have seen my face when my father told me that he cried.

But let’s start with the beginning. I have yet to see a movie that I didn’t enjoy, and even though at some movies I have some negative comments,  for this one I have only good things to say.

The movie introduces you directly into the story and starting with  great narration and extraordinary characters. Also, I do not like 3D movies if they are not animations, because the details tend to overpower the 3D scenes. And it is just a waste of money to see a 3D movie if it doesn’t have any really intense scene that will look good in 3D.

The amount of work that was put in details when this movie was created is astounding. The CGI work throughout the whole movie was marvellous. And the fact that the movie was in 3D made it even more impressive. I saw every little speck of ash and dust and even the smallest rock on the ground had every detail that it needed in order to look real. I have seen, maybe all the Marvel movies, and I knew that they had amazing CGI work, but it wasn’t always so great combined with the 3D aspect. And by that I mean that they either made the details look amazing, or the 3D very spectacular, but I don’t think they ever had such a great combination of the two before.

Also, the plot of the movie was insane! I won’t tell you anything that happened but I will say that I had to collect my jaw from the floor at some point in the movie, cried like a baby after that and by the end I was soooo very angry.  I would have definitely liked a tear alert so that I could have grabbed some napkins when I was buying my beverage. I haven’t read any of the comic books, seeing that  we don’t have them, but if this is how Stan Lee originally wrote Thor, well…my god, this man is a freaking genius! I think he knew that the audience will be a sobbing mess right in the middle of the movie.

And yes I am one of those people who love Loki more than Thor. Why? The way Tom Hiddleston acts in every movie, makes me love him as an actor and made me love Loki. And…well… he tore my heart out in a scene from the first movie:

Loki: So, I’m no more than another stolen relic? Locked up, here, until you might have use of me!

Odin: Why do you twist my words?

Loki: You could have told me what I was, from the beginning! Why didn’t you?

Odin: You’re my son. I wanted only to protect you from the truth.

Loki: What? Because I…I…I…I’m the monster that parents tell their children about at night?

Odin: No! No!

Loki: It all makes sense now. Why you favored Thor, all these years! Because no matter how much you claim to love me, you could never have a Frost Giant sitting on your throne of Asgard!

Yes, that is why I love Loki more than Thor.

As I wasn’t expecting the great combination of details and 3D art, I also wasn’t expecting so many jokes and laughable matters in an action-packed movie.I mean there are funny scenes in all Marvel movies, but I think this one had the most. And that is another aspect that I absolutely love about this movie is the funny-ironic lines between the two Gods [you know them], that made the movie even better than before.

The cast was crazy good. I know I am raving about this movie, but it really was good! And that is why I just have to talk about the cast. I just don’t know what to say about them other than: they were amazing. I am going to enumerate the best in my opinion: Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster and Sir Anthony Hopkins as Odin. I think that the amount of talent these four actors have combined is equal to a ton of mercury, and that is a lot! They played their roles perfectly, you could see that they gave their best in playing these amazing characters, and their great acting really affects one’s [my] emotions. I don’t have anything bad to say about these extraordinary people, other than that they are great actors and they did a hell of a job with this movie. And of course the awesomeness of this movie is due to the whole cast that includes the director, the stunt men and everyone that participated in creating this movie.

The huuuge amount of action, combined with drama and so many comedic scenes, the gripping plot and the amazingly talented cast make this movie a total worth seeing  masterpiece. I recommend it to all people that love Marvel and a good action movie. Cannot wait for the next one 😀 !

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

I cannot conclude my review without thanking Mr. Stan Lee for creating these amazing stories that bring happiness all over the world into the lives of children and not only . Thank you!

P.S. Do not forget to stay for all the credits!!! Marvel always has those post-credit scenes that you really don’t want to miss 🙂 !

Until next time,

Lexi xx 🙂
