Amazing friends!!!

Dear reader,

The goodness of people never ceases to amaze me. Yes, once again I have been gifted with something pretty amazing that I cannot thank enough for! And I can once again say that I have the best friends in the world.

When I finished high school a really good friend of mine, that I pretty much consider family, felt an inexplicable urge to send me a humongous gift card. What she sent me was overwhelming and unthinkable, and I cannot say I wasn’t surprised by it because I would be lying.

With that gift card I got the next 3 Harry Potter books I needed, now I need only two more and I have them all, yaaaayyyy. I am sooooo happy with the decision I made!!! It honestly is the best edition of Harry Potter that exists. I got books 3 to 5 and they are absolutely gorgeous.

See what I’m talking about? They are absolutely marvelous, and I cannot wait to start reading them. (I am already half way through Harry Potter and the Prizoner of Azkaban and I can already say that it is better than the first two.)

I cannot thank Carol enough for her kindness. She is truly a one of a kind friend and I don’t know what I would do without her amazing advice or her great knowledge of the world. If I had to stick to three friends for the rest of my life, she would definitely be one of them!

Until next time, take care,
Lexi xoxoxo!!

Summer On My Mind

Hey there,

I had in mind to write a post about summer but I don’t quite know what, so  I decided to share my summer plans with you. This summer I decided to do a lot of things for myself. I decided to read a lot, to watch a lot of TV shows and to draw a bunch!

Obviously, I will never get to do everything that I want, but on a small part I will manage to accomplish all of my selfish little needs.

My godmother insisted to visit her this summer, but I decided that this being my last summer at home totally free, it won’t work because I want to do what I want, not what others want. And I want FUN! I want to spend my time with my family, to catch up on reading and TV shows that I missed during the school year, all kinds of cool stuff. At least, that is what I think it is cool…

So far, my plans have been going good, the cause of this happening is that the weather is really sh***y so I cannot do anything else other than staying inside. So, since the summer holidays have started, I’ve read 5 and a half books, LOL; have caught up on the shows: Castle and The 100, and I am currently working on The Big Bang Theory; also I have been drawing some bits and pieces.

Drawing seems to be my weak spot. I definitely have to focus a bit more on that seeing that I have to finish a project very soon…can’t show or tell you what yet, but you will see, all in good time 🙂 .

Since summer started I have been iPad-less, which means that I don’t really have time or feel like writing many blog posts, which has also been one of my summer goals. However, tomorrow or on Monday, I will get it back and I will catch up on writing all of my book reviews and other fun blog posts.

So far, this blog post has been all about me. If you have gotten this far, please tell me down below in the comments, what do you want to do this summer? Do you have any goals? Will you have a fun summer filled with adventures, or will you stay at home and read, just like I have been doing? I would sure love to see your little stories 🙂 .

Love you all, stay safe until the next ramble.

Hugs and kisses,

Lexi xoxo!

Amazing friends over the seas!!! -part 3- & a great day.

Today. Today was a good day. And frankly, lately I didn’t have any reasons to say this, but today really was good!

After a long day of school I went with my best friend and took a walk down our dyke and went to the mall. And obviously I just had to stop at the bookshop there and decided to treat myself with a book that I wanted for so long that I can’t even remember when, The Fault in Our Stars.

After buying it I stayed with my friend and had a chat over a drink. Once we decided that it was time to leave, I went home and there was a package waiting for me.

Yes. Once again, I’ve been the honor to get a package from a dear friend. The amazing surprise consisted of two amazing books that I’ve also wanted for a long time, those being The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and The Selection.

I just want to thank Carol again for sending me these two books. I’m not sure that she actually knows how much this means to me! I appreciate this gesture so much that I cannot find words to express myself. So, thank you, for again making me feel so thankful and happy!

I wish I didn’t bore you with this post, but honestly, this was a very exciting day for me and I am so happy that this day turned out so well! How was your day? Did you enjoy it?

Until next time, probably with a book review,

Lexi xxxxxxxxxx! 🙂

P.S. Thank you again, Carol <3!

Here are the summaries of these titles if any of you are interested [got them directly from Amazon].

The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel’s story is about to be completely rewritten.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins 1380719_10203269851288552_917938342_n

Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen has won the annual Hunger Games with fellow district tribute Peeta Mellark. But it was a victory won by defiance of the Capitol and their harsh rules. Katniss and Peeta should be happy. After all, they have just won for themselves and their families a life of safety and plenty. But there are rumors of rebellion among the subjects, and Katniss and Peeta, to their horror, are the faces of that rebellion. The Capitol is angry. The Capitol wants revenge.

The Selection by Kiera Cass

For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in a palace and compete for the heart of gorgeous Prince Maxon.

But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her. Leaving her home to enter a fierce competition for a crown she doesn’t want. Living in a palace that is constantly threatened by violent rebel attacks.

Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she’s made for herself—and realizes that the life she’s always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined.

Amazing friends over the seas!!!

At the beginning of the year, a dear friend of mine from Texas asked me what books I have on my wish list. Of course I knew that she had been planning something..

She decided to send me a gift card so I could buy any book that I’d want. And of course her generosity was so big that the gift card was enough for me to buy two books!

I got the second book in the Mortal Instruments series: City of Ashes, and I also got The Hunger Games.

And honestly, this gesture that she did was very meaningful to me, and meant a lot because I feel that she did it from her heart and it makes me happy when I think that I manage to touch people’s hearts in this way.

And again, I want to thank Carol for being so amazing and insisting on sending this gift card! You shouldn’t have, but I thank you again!

Maybe for some people who will read this post will think that I am exaggerating for thanking so much, but to me is a big deal and I feel like I could not thank enough! I appreciate thoughtful things a lot, even if it is a message on my phone, but touches a soft spot in my heart, it would be more than I could ever ask for.

Thank you again Carol, you are one of my best friends and I wish that I could meet you as soon as possible :D. You make my day brighter so many times, and I love whenever you tell me facts about stuff..I really do, lol! Love you lots!! And never change, you have a great personality and you are perfect just the way you are :)!

Until next time,

Lexi xxxxxxxx! 🙂

P.S. I hope this post wasn’t over-the-top sappy, it was just what I felt at the moment and what I wanted to share :)!

P.P.S. I forgot to say how thankful I am for ALL my friends over seas. I have met some amazing people with the help of internet, and I feel like they are the best friends in the world, because they are always there for you no matter what. And most important, they don’t judge me when I’m at my lowest!

To be bought: Book wishlist.

If you didn’t know by now, I am a list making girl, so I will take the time and make a list for anything and everything.

I want to mention that I buy all my books from The Book Depository because it is the only site that allows me to order. Christmas Presents

As you may know from my previous post, my dad had to leave for Italy this morning. So get my surprise when I saw presents under the tree last night! My parents insisted that I shall open them so my dad can see my reaction. A thing that I did not expect because I ordered the presents myself, so I thought “how can I be surprised…”?

Well, I was wrong…[how many times have I said this on my blog?].

This year I did not ask for anything but books, so as expected, I got the three books I ordered last month: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by J.K. Rowling,  City of Bones by Cassandra Clare and Etiquette&Espionage by Gail Carriger. And soon, I understood why they had to see my reaction! I GOT THE DA VINCI CODE BY DAN BROWN!!!!

My parents knew for how long I wanted The Da Vinci Code, and they found it and bought it for me. Oh my God, I was and am so thankful and happy!1461792_10202618769331910_1601332517_n

I just HAVE to talk about each book because they are all sooooo beautiful. And they all have matte covers and the lettering in “3D” – *sighs* I LOVE matte covers and “3D” titles. LOL!

Firstly, I ordered the newest Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone edition because I loved the covers. I didn’t look much into it so I had no idea that they had illustrations at the beginning of each chapter!!! I am so glad that I got this edition! It is soooo beautiful and I cannot wait to finally read it.

Then, I opened City of Bones. Of course, I knew what to expect from it, and I am so glad I wasn’t let down by it! The cover is very nicely designed, and honestly I did not expect it to be this big, but hey, I am not complaining!!!1497817_10202618766011827_1086061273_n

Etiquette&Espionage, which I still think is underrated..Is the first steampunk book I own, and I cannot wait to devour it! It looks very nice, and I love the cover’s design, even my mom wants to read it after I finish it.

And last but NOT least, The Da Vinci Code. It is sooooo good looking….well, it is nothing as artistic as the others, but it is really nice looking to me! It is pretty thick…and I guess I expected it to be long, but not this long! I started reading it, and I have to say that I am loving it this far! I am at page 110 and have a lot until I finish it , but I am working on it :D. Also I cannot wait to finish the book and see the movie, because this may be the first movie adaptation that I wanted to watch only after I have read the book.1525611_10202618765691819_1976398574_n

Honestly, after I opened all of them I did not know which one I should start reading but I decided on The Da Vinci Code because it was on my to be read list for so long! I am not sure what I’ll be reading after this one, I think I will have to draw a ticket from a bowl or something, lol!

This year’s Christmas presents managed to make a small dent in to my book wish list, and provided me with great joy and happiness for a long time.

I am so thankful for everything that I got!! My parents are the best!!! ❤  [Just FYI, I did not write this in order to brag or show off! I am just very happy and want to share my happiness and excitement.]

Until next time, stay safe,

Lexi xxxxxxxxx! 🙂

P.S. The posts I publish this time of the year are not looked over beforehand by anybody because I don’t want to put anyone to work during the Holidays, so I am sorry for my crappy way of writing.

P.P.S. I wish I took pictures of the books when they were all wrapped up nicely.

P.P.P.S. I feel like I’ve repeated myself a thousand times by now…

New books are always so nice to buy and get as a present. The feel of a new unopened book is fantastic. Let alone the smell—yes, I am one of those people who like to smell their books. *grin*

Going to a library and borrowing a book is good for when you aren’t sure you really want to invest in that book, but seeing as my local library has almost no books in English, I mostly buy mine. I personally like buying books and seeing my own little bookshelf get filled with my favorites.

Even though I like reading on my tablet, I find reading a lot more satisfying when you have an actual book in your hand. For me it is such a thrill to turn the page after a cliffhanger, to have that joy of finishing a chapter and turning the page to a new one. Also, I feel like you forget what books you have in your collection on the tablet, whilst with actual books you can see them neatly arranged on your bookshelf.  In other words, I am again a bit oldschool and I say that I would give anything to exchange an ebook for a real one.

I ordered three books from The Book Depository as a Christmas present, and I cannot wait for them to arrive. I bought the first book from The Mortal Instruments: The City of Bones. Yes, I feel bad for watching the movie before reading the book, but I wanted to be sure that I would like the series before I bought the books and now I am definitely sure I will enjoy it.

The second book I bought is Etiquette & Espionage by Gail Carriger. This book has been on my to be purchased list for a really long time and I felt an immense need to read it. Also, I think this book is underrated so I will attach its summary so you can check it out…if you want.

Fourteen-year-old Sophronia is the bane of her mother’s existence. Sophronia is more interested in dismantling clocks and climbing trees than proper etiquette at tea–and god forbid anyone see her atrocious curtsy. Mrs. Temminnick is desperate for her daughter to become a proper lady. She enrolls Sophronia in Mademoiselle Geraldine’s Finishing Academy for Young Ladies of Quality.

But little do Sophronia or her mother know that this is a school where ingenious young girls learn to finish, all right–but it’s a different kind of finishing. Mademoiselle Geraldine’s certainly trains young ladies in the finer arts of dance, dress, and etiquette, but also in the other kinds of finishing: the fine arts of death, diversion, deceit, espionage, and the modern weaponries. Sophronia and her friends are going to have a rousing first year at school.etiquette-1

When I was placing my order for the first two books, I saw the new paperback of the books and decided, on a whim, to buy the first one in the series and that’s how I bought the new paperback copy of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. *Hangs head in shame* Yes, I haven’t read the HP series yet. I tried to read them a long time ago in Romanian, but I felt that they were poorly translated and didn’t try to read them again until now. Anyway, I am a big fan of HP and I cannot wait to start reading it.

So this is my short ramble for today, I felt like I needed to share my last shopping spree with someone. Tell me what were the last physical books you have bought?

Until next time,

Lexi xx 🙂
